Mindfulness Challenge Day 3: Filling your “Bucket” thru Inspirational Readings

In education you often hear the question, “Have you filled someone’s bucket today?” This means, “Have you honored, done something nice, given a compliment (etc.) to someone today?”

This question came to mind as I was choosing a title for today’s challenge and I wondered, “How often do we fill our own buckets?” Do we wake up and immediately grab our phones to scroll through Facebook and Instagram? Do we check our emails and answer texts from the previous day? Do we hop out of bed and get straight to our daily tasks?

It is so easy to open our eyes and think of all that we have to tackle for the day or become consumed with outside sources without realizing it. But…..what if we opened our eyes, immediately gave thanks for another day of life, and turned to an inspirational reading or devotion to fill our buckets BEFORE putting our feet on the floor to begin the day?

My challenge for you is to begin your mornings with an inspirational book, devotional, or even a podcast (i.e. Your Daily Prayer) that will fill YOUr bucket first thing. When we fill our minds, hearts, and souls with positive words before any other task, we set the tone for a positive and successful day.

Mindfulness in the morning brings peace into our spirits, so that we can better serve others (fill someone else’s bucket) and be joyful in the tasks set before us.

“Have you filled YOUr own bucket today?”
